Majulah! Celebrating the Unsung Members of Our Singaporean Homes
As Singapore celebrates its 61st National Day on 9 August 2026, we at iHome Singapore want to take a moment to acknowledge a group of people who are quietly woven into the fabric of our nation: the domestic helpers who care for our children, look after our parents, and keep our homes running.
There are over 250,000 domestic helpers in Singapore. They come from Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, India, and beyond — leaving their own families to become part of ours. They teach our children their first words in a new language, cook meals that taste like home, and provide comfort to our elderly parents when we're stuck at the office.

A Message to Employers: Say Thank You
This National Day, take a moment to thank your helper. It doesn't need to be grand:
Cook or order her favourite dish
Give her a small gift — a hand cream, a phone card to call home, a new sarong
Give her an extra rest day to celebrate with friends
Write a simple thank-you card in her language
Share a photo of your family with her on social media (with her permission)
A Message to Helpers: You Are Valued
To every helper reading this — thank you. Your hard work, patience, and warmth make Singapore a better place. You are not just workers. You are daughters, mothers, sisters, and friends. You are part of our families. And you are part of Singapore's story.
